Charlotte man arrested eight times in two years

Published Feb. 22, 2011 at 3:31 p.m.
Authorities say a tip from an alert resident helped them arrest a man suspected of breaking into cars in north Charlotte -- a man who has been arrested eight times in two years.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Denzel Davante Hall, 18, was arrested late Saturday night in the 400 block of Tom Hunter Road, after a neighbor called 911 and reported someone breaking into cars that were parked behind a vacant home.

By the time police arrived, the man had left, but officers say they found several vehicles with broken windows.

The neighbor told police he watched the man walk to a bus stop on North Tryon Street at Tom Hunter Road, and police say officers found a man at the stop who had slivers of glass in his jacket sleeves and fresh cuts on his knuckles.

The witness identified Hall as the man he said breaking into the cars, according to police.

Hall was charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle. The Mecklenburg County jail website shows eight arrests for Hall since January 2009. The most recent was on Nov. 24.

He remains in a Mecklenburg County jail under $3,000 bond and has an initial court appearance scheduled Tuesday afternoon.
